Our team is dedicated in promoting the strengths and abilities of vulnerable Youths and children by providing community based services that will empower each to be self-reliance in realizing their true potentials to be leaders and striving force for our future generations and positively contribute to building their communities. The team has a significant knowledge and experience in promoting the welfare of vulnerable Youth and children.
Augustine Macarthy
Executive Director
Augustine Macarthy is an International development professional. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with major in human development and societal transformation from the Njala University, Sierra Leone. Additionally, he received several certificates in management, leadership, development and humanitarian sectors from University of Ghana, Bocconi University, Planet Start-up Entrepreneurship Academy, West Africa Civil Society Institute, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Young Africa Leaders Initiative, and Royal Commonwealth Society.
Augustine is the Founder/Executive Director of Movement towards Education and Youth Empowerment-Sierra Leone (MEYE-SL), through his organization he has been able to promote the strengths and abilities of many Youth and children in his community. Augustine has previously worked as National Director for Planet Start-up Entrepreneurship Academy Sierra Leone Operations, through this he helped mobilize many youths with access to entrepreneurship skills training, which helped most of them develop socio-economic knowledge in catering, buildup resilience to ownership and self-employment in developing their own businesses that further help in increasing economic growth in the Kakua chiefdom.
Earlier he worked as a Social Worker for CARITAS-BO with an impact of promoting the welfare of many vulnerable children in Bonthe District. At Young Peacebuilder (YP) in USA, Augustine worked as the branch coordinator in Sierra Leone to end violence, neglect and social exclusion against children and youths in order for them to become more effective peacebuilders within Sierra Leone. He has four years successful track record in development and youth empowerment, with significant experience in child protection, peace building and sustainable development for young people in Southern part of Sierra Leone, mostly in Bo, Bonthe and Moyamba District respectively. He is passionate to support communities to capitalize on their own values and assets. Augustine is been driven by his commitment of a self-reliance society with good working environment and quality education for the less privilege.
Ibrahim Kawa
Admin & Finance Officer
Ibrahim Kawa has three years of experience in financial management, entrepreneurship, social mobilizer, research, and Youth empowerment. With his experience and career in entrepreneurism and financial management led Ibrahim Kawa to work in the position of Admin/Financial Officer for the organization, where he focuses on control and recording all the financial status of the organization. Ibrahim holds a higher diploma certificate in Business Administration and has further gain so many other leadership certificate related to financial management and entrepreneurship.
As an entrepreneur his numerous research work and financial management skills has helped him to unravel many questions, options and solutions related to financial management. For such a reason, he has endeavored in helping to figure out social problems/ challenges and to get the society involvement in solving their problems and challenges.
Abu Bakar Amara
Volunteer
Abu Bakar Amara has over three years of experience in community development sector, specifically focusing on education and peacebuilding. Presently, Abu Bakar Amara is the Programme Manager for Movement towards Education and Youth Empowerment-Sierra Leone (MEYE-SL), where he focuses on running all programme and project activities of the organization and oversees the planning, implementation and tracking of short-term and long-term projects.
Abu Bakar Amara holds a higher teachers certificate with lot of leadership courses and certificates focusing on education and peacebuilding. Abu Bakar Amara is been driven by his believes and commitment of educating, creating awareness and advocating for the less privilege within society which is the greatest skills towards making the society a better place for everyone.
Aminata .F. Kandeh
Volunteer
Holds Bachelors of Science degree with honors in Agriculture and fisheries management. Aminata has over five years working experience both in the field and the office. Currently, Aminata is Farm Manager at the West African Rice Company, where she focuses on rice cultivation to improve on rice productivity, value chain assessments and to improve on standard of living in communities. She also has experience in other areas such women’s empowerment and child rights.
In addition, she has volunteered as a sexual reproductive health peer educator and as a social mobilizer during the Ebola crisis as part of the team that help to put an end to the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. She is passionate and committed fish farmer herself, motivated by her appreciation for natural resources and her desire to not see them over exploited.
As such Aminata is concern about improving on the nutrition status in Sierra Leone and also help to reduce malnutrition in children and Fellow of Barack Obama Young African Leader Initiative (YALI).
